Sharath Chandra Guntuku is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania, where he directs the Computational Social Listening Lab. His research combines artificial intelligence, public health informatics, and data science to leverage digital sources — including social media, electronic health records, and mobile sensing data — to improve health outcomes at scale. He develops natural language processing and machine learning methods to predict health behaviors, assess mental health, and design culturally informed health interventions. His work spans global mental health, vaccine acceptance, health disparities, and firearms safety, and has been featured in WIRED, The Atlantic, the American Psychological Association, and other outlets.
